What does the TikTok Following API return?

TikTok following API: list the accounts any public TikTok user follows, by username, with each account’s nickname, bio, avatar and follower counts. Every response has the same envelope: the result in data, plus timeMs and the creditsCost of the call.

Why is the following list empty for some accounts?

TikTok lets people hide the list of accounts they follow. When an account does, the list comes back empty.

How is following different from followers?

Following lists the accounts the requested person subscribes to. Followers lists the people subscribing to that person. To research which creators a brand watches, use following; to sample the brand’s audience, use followers. These are separate directions in an account network.

Can I use this list to compare two creators’ networks?

Collect each creator’s visible following list and compare the returned account IDs. Use usernames and nicknames for display, and keep unavailable profile fields as unknown rather than treating them as zero. An empty list can reflect visibility settings, so it does not prove that an account follows nobody.

How do I use the TikTok Following API?

Send a POST request to https://api.bridgly.app/tiktok/get-user-following with uniqueId in the JSON body and your API key in the Authorization header. In the TypeScript SDK, call client.tiktok.getUserFollowing(). AI agents connected to Bridgly over MCP can call the tiktok_get_user_following tool.
