TIKTOK API

TikTok API for account lookups by username

Send a TikTok username and get the account’s display name, bio, avatar, verified and private flags, and the IDs that survive a rename.

request.ts

import { Bridgly } from "@bridgly/sdk";
const client = new Bridgly({ apiKey: "bgly_YOUR_KEY" });
const res = await client.tiktok.getUser({
uniqueId: "tiktok"
});
if (res.type === "success") {
console.log(res.data);
}

npm install @bridgly/sdk

[ ENDPOINTS ]

The TikTok endpoint

TikTok is the newest platform on Bridgly, and today it has one endpoint: an account lookup by username. It returns the display name, the bio, the avatar, whether the account is verified and whether it is private, along with the account’s numeric id and its secUid.

It also reports how the account has set its comment, duet and stitch permissions.

It does not return follower or like counts, and there are no video endpoints yet. If those are what you need, tell us; it helps us decide what to build next.

Accounts

One lookup, keyed on the username in the profile URL.

[ WHY NOT THE OFFICIAL API? ]

Why not the official TikTok API?

TikTok’s developer APIs are tied to who you are. The Display API reads only the accounts that log in to your app, and the Research API is open to approved academic researchers.

Any public account

The official APIs need the account owner to log in to your app. Bridgly looks up any account by its username.

No developer app

There is no TikTok developer app to register, no scopes to request and no review. One API key is enough.

IDs that survive a rename

Every lookup returns the numeric id and secUid, so your records still match after a creator changes their username.

[ HOW TO USE IT ]

Your first TikTok call

Terminal

curl -X POST "https://api.bridgly.app/tiktok/get-user" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $BRIDGLY_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{
"uniqueId": "tiktok"
}'
[ USE CASES ]

What people build with TikTok data

Check that a handle is real

Confirm that a username someone gave you exists, and whether it is verified, before you add it to a creator list or pay an invoice.

Keep stable IDs for accounts

Usernames change. Store the numeric id and secUid for each creator so your records survive a rename.

Fill in creator records

Add display name, bio and avatar to a list of handles collected from signups or a spreadsheet.

Screen out private accounts

Skip accounts whose content you would not be able to see anyway by checking the private flag first.

What the TikTok API does not do

  • Follower, following and like counts are not returned yet.
  • Videos, comments and search are not available yet.
  • The display name comes back as nickname and the bio as signature, matching TikTok’s own field names.
  • Read-only. There are no endpoints to post, follow or comment.

TikTok API questions

What TikTok data can I get today?

Account identity: display name, bio, avatar, verified and private status, interaction settings, and the account’s id and secUid. Follower counts, like counts and videos are not available yet.

Do I need a TikTok developer account?

No. You send the username with your Bridgly API key. There is no TikTok app to register and no login.

What is secUid?

It is TikTok’s long-lived identifier for an account. Unlike the username, it does not change, which makes it the safer key for your own database.

How much does a lookup cost?

One credit, and a username that does not exist returns a 404 that is not charged. What a credit costs in dollars depends on your pricing package, and goes as low as $1 per 1,000 credits at volume.

Is Bridgly affiliated with TikTok?

No. Bridgly is an independent service. You are responsible for using the data in line with the laws and terms that apply to you.
